From DIY to Design: Meet Perch + Paper

Let’s be real—I’ve always loved a good paper store. Even before I knew I was an artist, I was designing my own wedding invites, buntings, and decorations for baby showers, birthdays, and whatever else needed a creative touch. My tools? Microsoft Word, a printer, a good paper store, and sheer determination. {eek!}

That was more than 25+ years and three boys ago. My ‘baby’ is now 17 (oh my!), and in that time, I’ve gone from DIY-ing it on my home printer to designing an entire line of fun, fresh, and cheeky paper goods.

And through it all, one thing has remained true—I believe in the power of good paper. The kind that feels just right in your hands. The kind that makes you want to write, send, stick, or frame it. The kind that doesn’t just sit in a drawer but actually gets used.

Welcome to Perch + Paper

I’ve poured years of creativity (and probably a few coffee spills) into this new shop, and I’m beyond excited to share it with you. Perch + Paper is all about high-quality, beautifully designed paper goods that are meant to be used, loved, and maybe even hoarded a little.

We’re talking:

  • Pretty Things + Post – Snail mail, but make it fun. Think art prints and postcards that make sending a note feel like a treat.

  • Paper for Planning – Journals, calendars, and notepads to keep you somewhat organized—or at least make you look like you have it together. Because who doesn’t love a fresh calendar to try and stay on top of life?

  • Paint-It Kits – Because you deserve to be the artist! These are perfect for a creative break or a fun project to do with a friend.

  • Getting Hooked on Paper Goodness!

Why These Paper Goods Feel So Luxe

One of the biggest things that sets Perch + Paper apart is the print quality. Every single piece in the collection is designed by me here in Manzanita, OR, and printed with care by a small but mighty print shop in the Hudson Valley, NY. I chose them for their incredible quality, attention to detail, and extra-thick, high-quality paper goods that feel as good as they look.

So what makes these prints and postcards special?

  • Super-Thick Paper Stocks – These paper goods aren’t flimsy. Each postcard, print, and calendar is printed on ultra-thick stock, giving it a satisfying weight that feels luxe and durable.

  • Top-Tier Commercial Papers – Only the best materials are used, including premium brands like Neenah, Mohawk, and Finch, ensuring a beautiful texture and long-lasting quality.

  • Vibrant, 4-Color Printing – Every piece is printed with high-quality, professional 4-color printing, making the details crisp, the colors rich, and the artwork pop just as I originally designed it.

  • Thoughtfully Crafted – These aren’t mass-produced, one-size-fits-all paper goods. Each piece is printed with care, ensuring the final product is something you’ll love to use, send, or display.

This means that when you pick up a Perch + Paper postcard, print, or Paint-It Kit, you’re holding something that was carefully designed and professionally printed for the highest quality experience.

I live and work in Manzanita, OR, a small coastal town where creativity and nature go hand in hand. While Perch + Paper is primarily an online shop, you just might find me popping up with art shop events in the area every now and then. If you’re ever on the Oregon Coast, keep your eyes peeled—you never know when I might be setting up a little art-filled corner somewhere! Be the first to know when you sign up for my emails.
